In late 2019, the Sol Center opened along with the pickleball courts. Residents quickly began showing up to play—or to learn the game—with about 10–12 regular players in those early days.
In February 2020, COVID hit and the Sol Center closed. Fortunately, outdoor activities were still permitted, and we saw an explosion in interest as more residents turned to pickleball. The rapid growth made it clear that some structure was needed.
The Pickleball Club was formed in the early months of 2020. We established skill levels and designated play times, brought in outside pros for lessons, created our own Skills & Drills sessions, and added social events to the mix. As participation continued to grow, two additional courts were added by utilizing an underused tennis court to better accommodate demand.
Today, the Pickleball Club remains one of the largest and most vibrant clubs at Heritage Solaire, with more residents using the courts on a weekly basis than any other amenity.
